Event Description
. Friday, December 8th IMU & CiTR present JACKFRUIT w/ Andy Collins Band & Kaejema @ The BACKSTAGE LOUNGE on Granville Island (1585 Johnston St.) . 9pm / $10
JACKFRUIT - Former band members of Slow Nerve Action, Blue Quarter, Duran Duran Duran, SNA & Trip have formed a new super power group known as JACKFRUIT. Monster bass lines lurch around every smooth, molten piano roll taunting limbs to get up and get moving. Forging jazz, two-ton funk, drum n'bass, and a maelstrom of motormouth lyrics, Jackfruit has broken ties from genres and classifications that separate music by creating their own unique concoction that's too mind-blowing to pigeonhole. http://www.jackfruitmusic.com
ANDY COLLINS is one of the best up and coming singer/songwriters in the Vancouver music scene. Drawing upon personal experience and his own style of acoustic and electric sounds, his songs are well crafted, intense, and contain a dark edge that provides the listener with a story on every line. Andy and his dynamic band play catchy, electrified pop-rock with choruses that are guaranteed to stick in your head. http://www.thisiscollins.com
KAEJEMA - Playing a style best summed up as funkdubjazz this groove oriented jam band draws on a variety of backgrounds and styles, merging influences into funky, danceable instrumentals with lots energy and strong rhythm. http://www.kaejema.com
