Event Description
What is the Kingston Pop Choir?
Each month in 2026, we're bringing together a room full of people to learn and sing a song - no auditions, no experience required, no long-term commitment. Each session features a local musical artist who will lead the group in an arrangement of an original song or a popular cover. These are one-day choirs: playful, welcoming gatherings where folks come together to sing, connect, and create something bigger than themselves.
Kingston Pop Choir sessions are open to all! Accessibility information is included below. If there is anything we can do to make this experience more accessible for you, please let us know.
Special Guest for July: Meet Malobi (she/her)!
"Hi! I’m Malobi, a singer and instrumentalist based in Kingston, Ontario. I usually perform with Sam the Band, bouncing between folk, afrobeats, and R&B depending on the day.
I’m also a trained teacher, so you’re in good hands for an afternoon of singing. This month I will be teaching Miguel’s “Sure Thing,” an R&B classic that went viral in my heart long before it went viral on TikTok. It has fun lyrics, nice melodies and a super catchy beat, so I hope you can join us!"
The Song: Sure Thing by Miguel:
“Sure Thing” is Miguel’s personal definition of what real love feels like: a relationship so certain and well-matched that doubt never gets a foothold. Miguel wrote it as a reminder to himself, so he would never take that feeling for granted if he found it again."
