Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Salome Cullen and Sóley Ella May at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
Salome Cullen is a singer-songwriter with a sound stemming from roots in Country/Bluegrass and Americana. Known for his emotive storytelling and rich musicality, Salome’s songs are carefully crafted, thoroughly written, and authentic to the lifestyle of the working class. Raised on Saltspring Island, he brings an attitude toward music that is shaped by honest hardworking people. Salome's sound has been cultivated from bridging the gap between the professionalism of the session industry, and the deep cut, lyric-driven country of the 70s and 2010s. Salome is joined tonight by Sóley Ella May on guitar and vocals. Raised in a musical family, she has been writing and performing since the age of 6!
