Friday, Sept 8th IMU & CiTR present Hard On People, Les Seantistes & Alex Alegria w/ his Mariachi @ The BACKSTAGE LOUNGE, 1585 Johnston Street, Granville Island . 9pm / $10

HARD ON PEOPLE is a rough-hewn combination of r'n'b' and rock n' roll with sexy Las Vegas lounge show appeal. Mark Oliver, the Tom Jones of punk rock is joined by local legend, Ian Tiles, THE POINTED STICKS original drummer after recently returning from a sell-out tour of Japan! http://www.myspace.com/hardonpeople

LES SEANTISTES, a project that could only be born in Vancouver. The last place left in North America that can still lay claim to being a true laboratory city. Thirty-five men and women of every race, standing shoulder to shoulder, blending their voices into awe-inspiring harmony. They are backed by a crack team of musicians that can, upon occasion, include a full mariachi orchestra and/or sitar and tabla drums for their special Bhangara set.

ALEX ALEGRIA with his Mariachi - Alex Alegría was born in Tuxtepec, Oaxaca in southern México. In honor of his Aztec heritage he delved into his musical roots and plays traditional Rancheras, Boleros and ballads. This allows him to maintain his ties and to promote the beauty of Mexico through his art. http://www.alexalegria.com
