Event Description

Friday, June 16th IMU & CiTR 101.9FM present The Furios, Mongoose,The Buttersprites & The Smears @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir Street . Doors 8pm / $10 -:- Info: 604 681 1625

The FURIOS deliver an irresistible blend of ska, reggae, and catchy punk with solid, memorable vocals and empowering, danceable anthems that range from head bobbin' slow skanks to all out, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal ska romps. Expect to to be treated to fresh tunes from their newest CD release, "Tread Lightly" as well as their most requested and beloved dance floor favorites! With 11 Canadian tours under their belt and dates on last year's Vans Warped Tour, The Furios are more than just another ska band! http://www.losfurios.com

MONGOOSE deliver blistering, high octane energy, igniting the stage with their electrifying performances. Their hard-rocking musical assault is driven by relentless beats and incendiary guitars, with Shocore's Cory White declaring their NewMusicWest '04 set as "the best damn show of NMW!" Their newest EP "Museum Of Modern Art" is a punchy, versatile sonic assault from a raucous group taking the world by storm. http://www.mongooserocks.com

The BUTTERSPRITES were born out of guitarist Elizabeth Jameson's idea to start an all-girl Japanese pop/punk band in the mold of Shonen Knife in her home town of Seattle. Buttersprites shows feature crazy costumes designed by the band: whether dressing as nurses, in matching tennis outfits or Chinese communist military garb, their varying styles of dress creates an irreverent counterpoint to their irresistibly infectious music and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. http://www.buttersprites.com

The SMEARS combine elements of old and new school punk and rock with the addition of undeniably beautiful melodies. One of Vancouver's favorite punk bands, they garner new fans at every show with their unique, intense music flooded with passion and emotion. http://www.myspace.com/thevancitysmears
