Event Description

Friday May 19th CFOX, ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINKS & IMU present The Flairs CD Release Party w/ The Furios, Todd Kerns & The Turn @ The LAMPLIGHTER 210 Abbott Street . Doors 8pm / $10 -:- Info: 604 681 6666

The Flairs kick off their new "Shut Up And Drive" CD release before they embark on their take-no-prisoners Canada & state-side tour! Joined by special guests The Furios, Todd Kerns & The Turn, be sure to catch them at their high energy punk-pop-rock blast off!

THE FLAIRS are a 21st century band ready to take the world by storm with their catchy, hook-laden rock songs harkening back to the days of '80s metal and punk, sweetly flavoured with female harmonies and a whole-lotta attitude. Featuring former members of Tuuli and Bif Naked's band, they skillfully blend youthful spirit and undeniable talent to unleash a sound they can truly call their own on an unsuspecting public hungry for living, breathing, punk-coloured hard rock with smart pop sensibilities. The FURIOS deliver an irresistible blend of ska, reggae, and catchy punk with solid, memorable vocals and empowering, danceable anthems that range from head bobbin' slow skanks to all out, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal ska romps. Featuring a three piece horn section complemented by distinct songwriters and vocalists, The Furios shine the brightest when seen and heard live. The six piece band rocks, jumps, bumps and dances through set after set creating a party atmosphere that has made them a favorite with audiences. With 11 Canadian tours under their belt and dates on last year's Vans Warped Tour, The Furios have shared stages with Fishbone, Bedouin Soundclash, The Planet Smashers, DOA, The Smugglers and many others. TODD KERNS shot to fame with his first band THE AGE OF ELECTRIC who released many award winning albums, spawned several gigantic radio hits, a Juno nomination and Gold selling status. Now as a thriving solo artist and producer/songwriter, Todd is very much alive and well, having played legendary stages from The Whiskey A Go Go and The Roxy in LA to CBGBs in NYC and Maple Leaf Gardens in TO. Todd has appeared on albums by such artists as THE MATTHEW GOOD BAND, BIF NAKED and most recently lent his voice to THE NEVERENDING WHITE LIGHTS project that's currently burning up the Canadian music charts. THE TURN combine infectious, addictive hard rock songs with terrific vocals and great musicianship. With superb stage presence and energized, kick-ass performances, their music is best experienced live, but that didn't stop them from getting plenty of CFOX airplay and charting on the FOX Furious 5 with their single "Cut to Pieces"!
