Event Description
On February 7, 2025 2RMX, hosted by the lək̓ʷəŋən people and territory, will present a FREE music showcase of contemporary Indigenous Music at the beautiful Songhees Wellness Centre in lək̓ʷəŋən/Victoria, BC. This event is the first stop of 2RMX’s 2025 ‘Movable Feast’ series of contemporary Indigenous music and culture events ~ partnering with up to 10 Indigenous communities and organizations across BC.
“The public Confluence Showcase, a special presentation of Movable Feast, will be the culmination of a 3-day gathering, held to (re)discover and (re)vitalize Indigenous governance, laws and protocols through our stories, histories, languages, and territories, with a focus on knowledge sharing through various forms of art and music,” said 2RMX Artistic Director, Meeka Morgan.
The Confluence 2025 Part 1 (February 5-7) will explore living governance models and protocols for Contemporary Cultural Grease Trails – emerging cultural trading/sharing networks and associated digital platforms, such as the 2RMX Movable Feast project. “The Confluence musical showcase is curated to reflect these significant issues for our people,” Morgan noted.
The Confluence Showcase on February 7 opens at 4 pm with a Welcoming Ceremony and “Path of the Transformers” Keynote Synopsis of The Confluence by artist/activist and living legend RONNIE DEAN HARRIS.
The Confluence Showcase features a lineup of incredibly talented and diverse Indigenous artists, headlined by veracious Mohawk singer-songwriter LOGAN STAATS and Anishinaabe/Métis/North African global bass weaver, producer and DJ, HANDSOME TIGER. Other 2RMX favourites include: Inuvialuit folk-rock legend WILLIE THRASHER and Linda Saddleback, Secwepemc’s own Intergenerational healing roots-rhizome, hip-hop fusionists THE MELAWMEN COLLECTIVE, plus a special HIP HOP SHOWCASE featuring Kiva MH, Geo AKA The Voice and Pindian.
