Dreadlocks meet Stetsons in the Reggae Cowboys, a guitar-ripping Toronto posse
stampeding through North America. Canadians with roots in the Caribbean, they’ve created
a new brand of reggae: "This group has taken reggae to a new dimension - reggae tinged
with blues, country, R&B, jazz." (XNews, Jamaica). Described by fans as "Western
Hendrix/Marley reggae," over the past 4 years, they’ve won raves from radio stations, critics
and fans turning genres and assumptions on their heads.

Playing urban, conscious reggae while decked out in Wild West garb, they combine the
pulse of reggae with the soulful influences of Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield, along with an
unusually philosophical approach.” ( CMJ - College Music Journal) ..."Toronto-based (but
tropical-born) Reggae Cowboys, a jamming band with strong appeal to fans of both Bob
Marley and the Grateful Dead. " (Philadelphia Daily News)

One of the Cowboy's tactics has been to share stage bills with reggae hit-makers like Maxi
Priest, Third World, Bunny Wailer, Toots & the Maytalls, as well as the Marleys, Erykah
Baduh, and Lauryn Hill at the annual Marley Family Fest in Miami, FL. The Cowboys have
also often found themselves in the unique position as the sole reggae band performing at
large music festivals, playing alongside the likes of Wide Spread Panic, Patti Labelle, Los
Lobos, The Doobie Brothers, Gladys Knight, and the Temptations, among others.
