Event Description

Jan Randall, piano, Maria Ho, vocals, Steve Dubin, bass and Jon Miller, drums.
Maria Ho, vocals & band leader

Maria's soulful and soothing sounds captivate audiences in a musical breeze of swinging jazz classics, bossas, and French songs. Her spellbinding stage presence will uplift your mind and brighten your day.
Maria has recorded and performed with Canadian, US and international musicians, including Phil Dwyer, George Robert, Richie Cole, Warren Vaché, Krishna Booker, Lionel Young, Campbell Ryga and Seamus Blake. Maria’s music has received rotation airplay on WAMC/Northeast Public Radio, Coast to Coast AM, Penthouse Radio in New York, DR P1 and DR P8 Jazz in Denmark, CBC Radio, and KUVO in Denver. In 2018, Maria performed in Italy, and then in Las Vegas, plus an appearance on a syndicated program after TV show host Dennis Bono discovered her music.
Experience a musical journey of timeless gems and enduring classics that will take you to the golden era of music. Her music will bring sunshine, beauty, hope and inspiration. Maria has worked with arranger Torben Oxbol, Fred Stride and Miles Black. She is now recording a new album of original songs.

I first became aware of Maria’s exceptional voice while living in Beverly Hills. Canadian producer and broadcaster Gary Barclay invited me to a concert in Vancouver 18 years ago. I became an instant fan. Maria transported me back in time. Her meticulous phrasing and delicate dynamics of the lyric recalled to my long-term memory the performance of the great female songstresses. I spend my life in developing sound recording technologies and systems. I frequently use three of Maria’s CDs in evaluating the musical qualities of our studio monitor systems that we create for professionals.
Maria’s voice has a most revealing almost transparent quality. Her superb diction brings true beauty to the entire performance. The technical quality of her recordings and arrangements represents benchmark levels of performance. Maria’s personality and delivery on recordings and in person has that special honest dimension. She builds a believable story making the lyrics her own, while transporting me back in time to the romantic period when pen set to paper in creating these songs that we all revere. Yes, Maria represents a musical breeze with the kiss of a butterfly to our ears.
