Wide Mouth Mason (WMM) is an R&B based, modern pop/rock, power trio, reminiscent of a modern day combination of trios such as “The Experience”, “The Police”, and “Nirvana”.They have won over thousands of fans based on their high energy live performances, musicianship and love for playing music together. Their appeal crosses genres from youth who enjoy edgy new music to older crowds who are reminded of the golden days of rock and roll.
Wide Mouth Mason hails from Saskatoon, Canada, which is also the hometown of world renowned artist, Joni Mitchell. She was a huge influence in showing the band that it doesn’t matter where you are from in order to be internationally successful. WMM started playing together in high school and have been together since. They’ve received a Juno nomination for “Best New Group” and have two Certified Gold Records in Canada under their belt. Two of their four albums were co-produced and engineered by Todd Burke (Ben Harper, Jack Johnson) and David Leonard (Prince, Barenaked Ladies). Both of whom have largely increased WMM’s level of studio experience and ability to comfortably work with music industry heavy weights. Over the last seven years, WMM has achieved nearly 250,000 CD sales worldwide with minor marketing, promotions, radio and video play. This in large part is due to their hard work touring, having played nearly 2,000 live performances, and they are only 27 years old!
Wide Mouth Mason is also no stranger to the “big” stage having toured extensively in North America with The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and ZZ Top. On these tours, Wide Mouth (as their fans call them), garnered standing ovations, not only from the audiences, but from the actual headliners and their road crews, who are normally the harshest critics. In Montreaux, Switzerland they were dubbed “the find of the festival” by Claude Knobbes, who is the founder of the prestigious Montreaux Jazz Festival. WMM was the first ever Canadian Rock Group to be invited to the festival. At this festival WMM opened for Van Morrison who was quoted in the Swiss Press calling the boys “..the best band I’ve seen in a long time..”. WMM was also the first rock group from the West to break into the Communist Republic of China in 2002, thanks in part to their multi-cultural look and worldwide sound.
With their license and distribution contract with Warner Music Canada expired, WMM have recently signed a license agreement with Curve Music. WMM are more than ready to take their pre-developed class act to the world stage
