HEJIRA - With an array of eclectic original songs featuring richly layered and intricate arrangements, Hejira's self-titled debut is sonically rich, supported by well-crafted melodies and arrangements. The CD combines dissonant moments driven by angular guitars with more spacious and atmospheric songs. "Displaying a far-reaching sonic ambition, Hejira is one of the Vancouver music scene’s most intriguing up-and-comers." - Georgia Straight http://www.hejira.us

HINTERLAND has been carving its own niche in the musical landscape with ambient drones giving way to cascading walls of star-gazing guitar rock, all topped with heavenly vocals. Hinterland’s atmospheric sound is based in rock ’n’ roll, but the quintet’s shimmering sound is made unique by the inclusion of a few decidedly non-standard elements including flute, oboe and baritone guitar. The band will be playing new songs from their much-anticipated upcoming 2nd album, due in early 2006. http://www.hinterland.bc.ca

PORTICO delivers great female vocals, tight, angular indie rock songs and a big sound from past and present members of Pluteous and Trains Across The Sea. Their musical touchstones include Blonde Redhead, Tortoise and Slint. http://www.porticonation.com
