Ensemble Laude’s spring concert, “Bloom”, curates joyous music written for upper voices written by composers from around the globe, upon the themes of renewal and blossoming creativity. Our programs entwine spoken word with song. Ensemble Laude encompasses singers of all ages, orientation and ethnicity into our ensemble and this diversity is reflected in our music selection.
Bloom especially highlights current compositions by Canadian women, and music in an astounding multitude of languages celebrates our many origins. Some Canadians represented are Sarah Quartel, Katerina Gimon, Marie-Claire Saindon, Eleanor Daley and Cree composer Sherryl Sewepagaham. The program also includes works by by Ysaye Barnwell (Afro-American) and Karin Rehnquist (Swedish), Part Uusberg (Estonian) and Franco Prinsloo (Dutch).
This will be Artistic Diector Elizabeth MacIsaac's last concert series before her year's sabbatical.
