Event Description
Thursday evenings, bring a blanket and a picnic and join us in Centennial Park for great music in the beautiful setting of Ganges Harbour — exceptional musical acts from across British Columbia alongside local island talent.
Astrocolor:
Named Instrumental Artist of the Year at the 2022 Western Canadian Music Awards, Astrocolor blend elements of jazz, psychedelia, and electronica – resulting in an experimental genre of their own cosmic invention, aptly dubbed “AstroJazz.”
The new album Moonlighting – AstroJazz Vol.1 was Executive Produced and mixed by GRAMMY-winner Steve Christensen, best known as Khruangbin’s longtime producer and studio collaborator. Given Khruangbin’s significant cultural influence amongst modern instrumental-leaning projects, Christensen’s stamp of approval was not only a massive feather in Astrocolor’s cap, but also an opportunity to add his revered touch to the spacious soundscapes the band has been celebrated for.
Astrocolor’s catalogue has over 10 million streams on the major platforms and regular national radio airplay in Canada from flagship CBC shows including Drive and Afterdark. The band’s dynamic live show has brought them to notable festivals including Bass Coast, Burning Man, Shambhala, Rifflandia, Laketown Shakedown, and the Victoria International Jazz Festival.
Tarran the Tailor:
Ah Tarran, what do ya say about this guy?
His legendary Live performances have been delighting, confounding, and seducing audiences across the world for more years than he would care to admit. He’s played such exotic locales as the side stage at Raves, in Manitoba, and on a mountaintop in Bulgaria. His live show is a subtle barrage of looped vocals, found sound, and strange trips through the music of the world, wrapped in whipped cream and spice. His music was turned into a soundtrack for a sold-out theatre show, L.I.A.R in Europe and Australia which he toured with many years. His music has been in the short film Bury Him in the Desert, the cooking show The Perennial Plate, a crazy Swedish fishing documentary, and a number of racy love scenes. Of course.
