Event Description
In the 1950's and 60's the Cannonball Adderley Quintet crisscrossed the United States in two Cadillacs bringing joy, sass and swing to small clubs and concert halls, celebrating and sharing a music equally rooted in the blues, gospel music and in hard swinging bebop.
Featuring:
Roy Styffe - sax
Miguelito Valdes - trumpet
Tony Genge - piano
Peter Dowse - bass
Kelby MacNayr - drums
Arguably one of the most artistically and commercially successful small groups of the era, much of the Adderley Brothers material has become lost and forgotten today. In this special presentation, we bring back to life some of the greatest hits and lesser known treasures of the Adderley Brothers repertoire featuring the wonderful saxophonist Roy Styffe, fiery Cuban trumpet virtuoso Miguelito Valdes, swinging piano player Tony Genge, the driving bass of Peter Dowse and the subtle and explosive drumming of Kelby MacNayr!
