Born and raised in Toronto, Canada and of Russian and Irish heritage, LAURA YOUNG has given widely acclaimed performances around the world and has won prestigious prizes at international competitions such as the “Andrés Segovia Competition” in Palma de Mallorca, Spain and the “Jacinto e Inocencio Guererro” in Madrid, Spain, among others. Since 2010, her principal chamber ensemble has been with mezzo soprano, Frances Pappas in the “Lagrimosa Belta” duo. Laura earned her Bachelor of Music degree under the direction of Eli Kassner at the University of Toronto, continued her studies with David Russell and completed them with Hubert Käppel at the Hochshüle in Cologne, Germany. She is currently professor at the Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona, Spain.
Laura will perform a concert with the Victoria Guitar Society on January 14.
