Event Description
The daughter of a General, Hedda is trapped in a marriage and a role she does not want but cannot escape. In an act of defiance, Hedda uses her maiden name, Gabler, to define herself separately from the men who hold influence in her life.
A night of explorations of privilege, power and entrapment through societal constraints where all can be lost by even the rumour of a scandal. Much like how social media today has the power to destroy someone overnight, a scandal in Hedda Gabler’s world holds the same powerful threat, leaving her trapped and openly resentful. The lead character in Hedda Gabler is considered one of the greatest and most challenging, theatrical roles, thoroughly unlikeable and is the ultimate anti-hero, who gains the audience's sympathy by the end of the show.
Hedda Gabler, a masterpiece of Western Theatre, is the final production directed by Brian Richmond as the Artistic Director of Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre.
