The Lafayette String Quartet perform Joseph Haydn’s virtuosic Quartet in C Major, Op. 54, No. 2 and Beethoven’s technically demanding Quartet in F Major, Op. 59, No. 1, the first of his middle-period quartets. They will also perform Ruth Crawford Seeger’s most famous and influential work, String Quartet 1931.
Since 1986, the members of the Lafayette String Quartet have divided their time between entertaining audiences all over North America and Europe and teaching some of Canada’s finest young string players. Their residency at the University of Victoria is rich in local performances and community involvement. Their concerts in Canada and abroad have been hailed as “passionate, riveting, and with flawless ensemble.”
