We're excited to welcome back The Big Coast for their second Blue light Session and as our 2020 kick off band for the year!
The Big Coast is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; the indie/soul sextet is led by Vocalist/Guitarist Guy Wilkins. His heartfelt, dynamic, and engaging vocals are flanked by bombastic brass lines, and supported with a rock solid rhythm section.
Wilkins was born in Australia, grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. He made his living busking all over Europe in his late teens and early twenties. After spending many years travelling the world, Wilkins settled in Vancouver almost a decade ago.
The Big Coast grew out of an informal weekly jam session. At times there were upwards of 13 musicians crammed into a small rehearsal room playing a mixture of covers, and some of Wilkins’ original songs. The group started to become more serious and focused on their original material in 2016.
The lineup solidified in 2019; with Drummer Arthur Delahooke, Bassist Devon Clarke, Trombonist Dexter Juric, Saxophonist Riley Johnson, and Guitarist Patrick Barnett joining Wilkins. This group has played many prestigious festivals in British Columbia, and they are a local favourite—filling popular venues.
Check out their Blue Light Session from their show back in March 2019!
