Event Description
Vinyl Envy is very proud to present another All Ages in-store music show featuring:
Abraham (Victoria, BC)
www.abrahammusic.bandcamp.com
Abraham’s music is intimate and full of sincerity. Her debut 2014 EP release "This Old Heart" is a collection of seductive, sentimental and admirable feeling. These songs are, as she says; “a rebirth”. Abraham seems to bring a little bit of each genre to the table. Carrying with her a blend of soulful, electric folk with jazzy undertones. While also drawing on her southern background a subtle twang. From a very young age Abraham has been devoted to her passion for music. That passion has brought her to tour extensively throughout Western Canada and Ontario over the years.
If you are looking for deep, romantic, lyrically provoking music, look no further.
with
Porteau (Vancouver, BC)
https://www.porteaumusic.com
Porteau is the creation of Victoria Williams and Craig Stevenson. Ethereal vocals take center stage, supported by washes of looped and modulated guitar. With lyrics steeped in folklore, they use their surrounding West Coast landscape as a backdrop to explore and unearth stories of human nature. The Vancouver duo’s debut album Water’s Gate transports listeners to a world of pragmatic mysticism. Layers of lush vocals and washes of light, modulated guitar are the foundation of their songs. Pulling the record into diverse moods and through vivid textures, their sound weaves through folk-inspired passages, celestial soundscapes, and electronic flourishes.
and
ursidae (Vancouver, BC)
https://ursidae.bandcamp.com/
If folk music is “all the music that fits between the cracks”, then ursidae springs forth from the lush, dark soil that lives between rocks and sidewalk squares. This alt-folk offering is the solo project of Vancouver-based musician Caro Deady.
Tapped into tradition, and stirred by the indie folk stylings of Daughter, Bon Iver, and Sharon van Etten, ursidae gives voice to her own stories in her newest release, almost//closer: an EP steeped in dusky blues and the salty waters of lonely love. Tender and whimsical, honest and fierce, ursidae takes listeners on a journey through dreamscapes and back alleys—all the while reminding us that there’s beauty in sadness, that we should savour the emotions that make us oh-so-hopelessly human.
