Event Description

A joint concert celebrating Canadian music featuring Victoria’s leading flute ensembles.

Victoria’s High Notes Flute Choir, Trio Taco and members of the musical community come together to bring you an evening of spectacular flute music as part of Canada Music Week. This concert will showcase flute choir music for large and small ensembles, which include unique instruments such as alto and bass flutes.

Canada Music Week was initiated by the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association to celebrate, support, and educate the public on Canadian contemporary music.

Trio Taco blends their classical roots with a passion for new Canadian music. Known for curating and headlining concerts entirely written by Canadian composers, the trio aims to increase approachability to contemporary music. By redefining the live classical music experience, they have created a uniquely engaging stage presence. Trio Taco engages audiences of all ages by discussing different aspects of the music: composer’s techniques, inspirations, flute extended techniques and more. They recently finished a successful tour in Southern Ontario featuring music by living composers.

High Notes Flute Choir started in 2016 with a group of professional musicians coming together to play new and challenging repertoire utilizing Piccolo, c flutes, and both the alto and bass flutes allowing audiences to enjoy the beautiful sound of the flute, with the full voicing of a choir.

Wondering how the sliding scale works?
If you are un- or under-employed (or a student), please pay on the lower end of the scale. If you are reasonably employed, please pay towards the middle of the scale. If you are well-employed or otherwise financially well-off, please pay towards the upper end of the scale. No questions asked.
