poet/spoken word artist
the svelte ms. spelt
Many of us in Vancouver, BC know this long-standing member of our poetic community as a spoken word artist and poet extraordinaire. Keep in mind that Spelt has been a driving force behind the Van Slam, Bukowski’s old reading series “Tales of Ordinary Madness” and many local and international events involving all things poetic! The honest place from which Spelt’s verse originates resonates via the strong performance that Spelt offers to the audience, verse that often deals with the every-man/woman concepts of heroes and anti heroes, mythologies, sports (yes! SPORTS – and done proper-like, I tell ya!), and addressing the basic emotional and intellectual bonds which we all share. Spelt accomplishes this with Spelt’s own wonderful twist on the world as seen through the eyes of a far less-than-typical individual.
C’mon out and catch one of Vancouver’s integral forces of poetry!
