BLAST Productions presents
The 1st Annual SKA SMACKDOWN
Saturday February 19,
8pm
at the ANZA Club
from Vancouver The HOUNDS of BUSKERVILLE
vs.
Nanaimo's The KILTLIFTERS
plus refereeing by The ELIXXERS also from
Vancouver
Skank until you drop at the first annual ‘SKA SMACKDOWN’. Two of the
west
coast’s best ska bands drop their gloves and go at it with duelling
extended
sets. The last band standing wins the crown.
DING!
In the left corner - fresh off the best New Year’s party in town - are
Vancouver’s longest running champeens of the scene The Hounds of
Buskerville. Their west coast ska is as original as it is danceable.
They’re
pulling out all the stops and loading their set with jazzy
instrumentals,
deep reggae grooves and tons of punk energy all in an effort to win the
Smackdown crown.
DING!
In the right corner are Nanaimo’s best, The Kiltlifters, and they’re
ready
to skank and deliver! With their new album “Curious George” about to be
released and the band just starting out on a western Canada tour, The
Kiltlifters are serious contenders. They’re in prime shape with zany
west-coast ska, hilarious vocals, four searing horns and an emphasis on
dancing, partying, fun and, let’s not forget, stomping the Hounds for
the
Smackdown crown.
It’s gonna be a battle to find the last band standing. Refereed by
Vancouver’s hot new arrivals on the scene The EliXXXirs this is gonna
be one
helluva fight, um, night!!
