BURTON CUMMINGS BIO
In 1975, after 10 years, Cummings left The Guess Who to become a solo artist and the group disbanded.
Solo hits in Canada included "Stand Tall" (also his only American hit, peaking at #10), "I'm Scared," "Break it to Them Gently," and "Fine State of Affairs." Cummings charted outside Canada with "Stand Tall" and "You Saved My Soul." His Dream of A Child album released in 1978 was the biggest Canadian album in history at that time. Burton helped the sales of this album through extensive autograph signing.

Cummings ultimately made the move to Sherman Oaks, California, and began writing and singing for films in the late 1970s. He currently winters in California and returns to Winnipeg in the summer, living in Canada throughout autumn. He co-starred in the movie "Melanie."

In 2000, Cummings, Bachman and original drummer Garry Peterson toured as The Guess Who. Bassist Jim Kale played one show and former Guess Who sidemen Donnie McDougall and Bill Wallace re-joined the line-up through the remainder of the tour in Canada and later in the U.S.

Cummings purchased Winnipeg's "Salisbury House" restaurant chain with manager Lorne Saifer and a few other local celebrities. He also toured with the re-united The Guess Who from 2000 through the summer of 2003. In 2001, Burton and the rest of The Guess Who received honorary doctorates at Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba. Cummings was also made a member of the Order of Manitoba. Most recently, the band played at the so-called "SARSstock" concert in Toronto. On November 23rd, 2004, Burton Cummings' new single "With God on Our Side" debuted at 21st spot on a Canadian music internet music chart. "With God on Our Side" is a cover of the famous Bob Dylan song.

Cummings continues to work on releasing a new album, plays occasional shows with Randy Bachman as The Bachman-Cummings Band, featuring The Carpet Frogs, a band from Toronto and makes occasional appearances at various Canadian casinos as a solo performer. The Bachman-Cummings Band have released a compilation album titled the Bachman Cummings Song Book featuring hits from The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Cummings' solo career. They have also released an album titled The Thunderbird Trax, which is an album that Cummings and Bachman recorded in Bachman's toolshed in British Columbia in 1987, this album was previously never released for the general public, and in 2006 was finally released for sale exclusively at Bachman-Cummings concerts, and not online or in stores. It is now available on the Bachman-Cummings website.

First Time Around TV Special, now on DVD, released Nov 2006 on the Sony BMG label. Cummings' first new studio album in 17 years, since Plus Signs was released on June 12, 2007 as a Bachman & Cummings album. The album is titled Jukebox and covers various songs from the 1960s that influenced Bachman and Cummings. There are already plans for a follow up album to Jukebox with Jukebox II sometime in the future, as well as a Television special.

On November 4, Cummings released his first solo album of new material in 18 years titled Above The Ground. The album has 19 tracks - all original songs written by Cummings. Many of the tunes had been written by Cummings over the years and were recorded with the help of his touring band The Carpet Frogs from Toronto. Above the Ground has been highly anticipated and has been at or near the top of the Amazon.ca charts since its release. The release also includes a behind the scenes look at the recording process. Above the Ground is a Canadian release.

WIL BIO:
In order to put a name to my 5th studio album, I needed to find the right word or phrase that described my life’s journey since the days of playing covers. After all, this album is the sum of all parts since delving into music as my life purpose. Before that, I had been a very bad waiter and chalkboard artist but after a colossal break-in of our Vancouver apartment we moved back to Calgary where an impromptu performance at The Barley Mill lead to six year run in the mid-90s. I earned a reputation as that solo guy who breaks strings and packs bars but I realized that this was no way to make a career for myself. What it had done, however, was help me discover my voice and learn how to entertain a crowd. So in 2002 I wrote eight songs. Those precise eight songs became my first album ‘Both Hands’.

In 2004, I signed to EMI after they caught my Canadian Music Week showcase in Toronto. They re-released ‘Both Hand’s, which I had already managed to sell 6000 copies of offstage. The album led to three Western Canadian Music Awards and put me in front of audiences all over Canada and into the US, touring with bands like Colin James, Xavier Rudd, The Tea Party and Matthew Good.

In 2007, just after the release of ‘By December’, EMI drastically downsized and I was dropped. Zero hard feelings either way. Instead, I spent the next few years learning how to become a better songwriter, releasing two additional independent albums and touring. Otherwise, nothing much was happening until 2011 when my song ‘Roam’ was chosen to represent Travel Alberta’s ad campaign called ‘Remember To Breathe’. Doors began to open when the flagship video ‘Remember to Breathe‘ featuring ‘Roam’ won the Diamond Award for Best Overall Entry at ITB Berlin (considered the OSCARS of the International Travel and Tourism Industry). The next year saw the video ‘There Is’ win Gold. Meanwhile, I had penned an additional six songs for the campaign as well as other musical works like Ride, the official theme song for The Calgary Stampede’s 100th anniversary.

In July of 2013, I felt the time had arrived to record and produce my own album. I enlisted the aide of studio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and owner of Poplar Sound Studio, Jayme Langen. We recorded our first track ‘Hold Me On’ in a three-day session which not only produced surprising results from the song, but also cemented our collective wish to forge ahead with the next seven tracks. However, I lacked the funding until my wife/manager heard aboutFANPUSH, an online crowd-funding platform where fans donate funds to help artists create their own music. We asked fans to donate towards the recording of seven more songs and in two short weeks we had reached our goal of raising $8000. By the time the four-week campaign ended, we had managed to raise an astonishing $10,985.

I had been going through a bit of a tough time emotionally and professionally and the response helped turn my perspective around. It wasn’t the money per se that changed things – it was simply that I realized people cared about what I do… that my songs were affecting people in a very positive way. I was able to focus completely and even began writing again. Over the next five months we tracked eleven songs, trashing anything that wasn’t working, never settling until we had what we wanted.
Labour of love? Yes, absolutely, and I am proud of the outcome. Like my career there’s no certainty; of fame, of money, of anything really – I am just in it for the ride (with my gal, of course). It’s bloody scary and thrilling, dark and bright, wondrous and wicked. It’s a roller coaster ride. That’s why this album is called El Paseo – it means ‘The Ride’ in Spanish.
