Event Description
"How Many Laureates Does It Take to Change the World?" :: 8:00 to 10:00 PM :: $15 (regular) $10 (student)
In recent years, many Canadian cities have recognized the importance of spoken word in local poetic culture, appointing many of our own as Poet Laureate. We could not be more pleased to be kicking off this year's Canadian Festival of Spoken Word with a celebration of spoken word artists who have received this recognition - artists whose work exemplifies the diversity of styles and traditions within the spoken word community.
Featuring Victoria's Janet Rogers, Halifax's El Jones, Calgary's Kris Demeanor, and Edmonton's Mary Pinkoski.
"Last Chance Slam" :: 10:00 PM to Midnight :: $10 (regular) $5 (student)
Twelve poets compete for the opportunity to form a Wildcard Team, and take part in the national poetry slam tournament. Two rounds of high intensity poetry slam, and the first official event of the CFSW poetry slam tournament.
FESTIVAL PASSES: $75 (regular) $45 (student) - Go to www.CFSW.ca to purchase.
