Event Description
On your way around the Integrate Arts Festival tonight, stop in at the Souvenir Gallery for 20 minutes and check out this short film:
In the contemporary setting of Victoria's James Bay area, a small crew of artists have pieced together a short film utilizing the style of a black and white, silent classic, digging up some hidden dirt on one of Victoria's notoriously wild and
eccentric woman artists Emily Carr.
Unknown secrets she may have took with her to the grave? Monkey bones, crow beaks, pieces of brick, unfinished paintings, loads of cash, rubber chickens etc.
The idea for this video was to make a short satire, a comical experience, which attempts to lift the dense veil cast over the memory of Emily Carr.
Cameron creates his art with different mediums, working by trial and error, using
forward thinking to continually challenge himself.
His goal is to create work that is balanced within its composition while maintaining
the simplicity of his original ideas.
Inspired by randomness, lucidity and the continually changing possibilities of
thought, Cameron is always trying to create something visually new. He explores
many ideas and constantly challenges himself to step into the unknown, creating a
large and diverse array of visual material.
Cameron collaborates with other artists in his community, working together to
curate and exhibit artwork in a primarily “do-it-yourself” fashion, as well as exhibiting
his own work in professional venues.
