Alcan String Quartet and Emily Carr String Quartet return to join forces in a gala finale to the 2012 season.
Mendelssohn’s octet, written when he was just 16, has been described as “one of the miracles of nineteenth-century music.” We round out the festival with this ever popular work, performed by the two quartets featured this summer — the Alcan Quartet and the Emily Carr String Quartet.
This final program will also includes rare opportunity to hear captivating quartets by Russian Dmitri Shostakovich and Ukranian Russian Nikolai Kapustin.
