LAND - Inspired by the possibilities born out of jam-based rock music, this 2 man blues-driven band focuses on tightly crafted music that's strongly rooted in spontaneity. Thrust forward on a wave of fuzz-laden grooves and reverb echoes, the vocals reveal stories of love, darkness, and hope, setting the tone for the band's inspired musical soundscape. Embracing a curiosity into the deeper origins of rock music, their sound and live energy has been compared to visionary bands like Cream and the Grateful Dead as well as retro revivalists like the White Stripes and Black Keys. http://www.myspace.com/land1977
A PALE BLUE was born in Alberta, and their music resonates with the imagery of the prairies: the giant skies, the hard rolling earth, and the well-worn lives of those who live between. Now based in Vancouver, their debut album "AM Gold" showcases their rugged sound while rendering their lyrical subject matter earnestly and with simplicity. A true and honest pearl of a group. http://www.apaleblue.com
WARBABY - This duo made up of ex-Australian thief Kirby and ex-Albertan complainer Jon make some charming noise. http://www.myspace.com/warbabyz
MEXICAN DRUG PATROL - Formerly known as The HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS, Mexican Drug Patrol brings blazing electric desert surf rock to the clubs of Vancouver. The guitars of James Elwood and Ben Fussell do the talking, backed up by Tony Dallas on drums and the recent addition of Dave Wise of Fuzzcat on bass. The band is hard at work recording their first album, which will be stuffed to the gills with original instrumental rock tunes. http://www.myspace.com/mexicandrugpatrol
