Event Description

Worlds of Music:
“From Baroque to Bossa Nova”

Vancouver Community College's School of Music presents two evenings of music by talented performers from VCC's School of Music.

April 6, 2009 will feature the VCC Madrigal Singers (directed by Gerald Van Wyck) performing music from the baroque period and beyond, as well as the VCC "Pre-Bop" Jazz Ensemble and the VCC Jazz Orchestra (directed by Alan Matheson) who will present works made famous by Duke Ellington, Paul Whiteman and Louis Armstrong.

April 9, 2009 will showcase VCC's "Short Fuse" jazz combo (directed by Laurence Mollerup), an exciting ensemble that specializes in "Fusion" jazz in the tradition of Miles Davis and Weather Report. As well, the VCC Latin Jazz Ensemble (directed by John Korsrud) will present a fiery set of salsa and Latin-American compositions. In addition, the Vancouver Community College Chamber Choir (directed by Paula Kremer) will perform a wide ranging program of choral music - old and new.
