Renaissance to 21st century choral from Victoria BC

Event Description
Composer Joseph Hayden (1732-1809) wrote many masterpieces in his prolific life, but two of his greatest were his final oratorios The Creation and The Seasons; both lush, beautiful and stirring works for large four-part choir, soloists and orchestra. Both were a culmination of all his musical talent and met with instant success, but at the time the biblical theme of God's Creation was deemed, even by Papa Haydn himself, as more noble and worthy of musical imortality than the cyclical changing of the weather.
Now in the 21st century, climate change and global warming are among the world's most pressing concerns. Haydn's gorgeous work resonates anew as a profound and moving testament to the power and importance of the seasons' interplay with mankind's wellbeing.
The Victoria Philharmonic Choir (VPC) was created June 2005, as a non-profit performing arts organization dedicated to arts and cultural innovation through the performance of high quality symphonic choral music.
