For the first time this song-cycle, by Canadian composer Robert Fleming, has been adapted and staged as a chamber opera. Also known as The Songs of Mary, the work examines the character of The Blessed Virgin Mary, detailing her life-story from a humanistic point of view. Beginning with her son's birth, the story unfolds as Jesus matures, eventually relating his fate in the crucifixion. And for something completely different...the second-half of the program is devoted to light-hearted musical theatre...Booking Broadway: There's No Business Like Show Business. In a cabaret-like presentation of classical and contemporary material, students showcase their singing, dancing, and acting chops! An eclectic and dynamic evening not to be missed.
