Jeunesses Musicales and the Victoria Conservatory of Music are proud to present the Cecilia String Quartet and its concert Mozart, Beethoven and their heirs as part of the Desjardins Concerts 2006-2007. This tour will bring the quartet in many cities throughout Quebec and Ontario.
Winner of the Felix Galamir Chamber Music Award in 2005, barely a year after its formation, the Cecilia String Quartet has been praised by some of the most renowned chamber music teachers (among them Scott St. John) for its exceptional musical chemistry and impassioned performances. Each of the members of this talented quartet has acquired considerable experience playing alongside nationally– and internationally– acclaimed musicians.
Join these talented musicians on a journey of discovery through Mozart’s Hoffmeister String Quartet, the third Razumovsky Quartet by Beethoven, a very successful synthesis of the composer’s musical ideas, Brahms’ darkly romantic String Quartet in C Minor and Shostakovitch’s daring and deeply moving Ninth Quartet, dedicated to his third wife Irina.
