Event Description
Since 1997, Two and a Half White Guys have been playing in their homestate of Utah as well as dozens of cities throughout North America. With theband's roots at the base of Utah's Wasatch mountain range, one can hardly imagine where five individuals would get the inspiration to create such a fluid mesh of reggae, rocksteady and ska. Several of the members of the Two and a Half White Guys have played elsewhere in Utah's music scene, including opening for major acts such as No Doubt , The Specials , Fishbone , The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Dave Wakeling , formerly of the English Beat . An excellent party band, Two and a Half White Guys killed it at their last west coast appearance for Victoria's 2001 Ska Festival . A much welcomed return.
The Hoodwinks derive much of their inspiration from the rich tradition of Jamaican music, including Reggae, Rocksteady and Ska. However to say that The Hoodwinks are a ska act would be misleading as they are equally indebted to the sounds of British R&B, and American Soul as well as certain acts from the late seventies punk scene, especially those who embraced the rhythms of Jamaica. Along with the J-Roys on the decks, this promises to be an amazing ska dance party!
