Event Description

On sale fri, jan 12 @ 10am

Filled with smoky, soulful bulletins from the front, India.Arie’s third album Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship is the most acclaimed effort yet from the Grammy multi-award winner and platinum-selling singer-songwriter. The disc, her third on Universal Motown, debuted at #1on the Billboard Album chart this past summer and quickly went gold in its first week of release. Vibe magazine called the record, which explores relationships with honesty, depth and vulnerability, “pensive and poetic.” The Grammy committee seems to have agreed, as India is once again nominated, this time for three awards—for Best R&B Album, Best R&B Female Vocal Performance for the single “I Am Not My Hair”, and another nod for that track in the Best R&B Song category. Bonnie Raitt, Akon, Gary Lenox of Rascal Flatts guest on the disc, and India covers Don Henley’s “The Heart of the Matter”.

India emerged in 2001 with her platinum-selling Acoustic Soul, which she followed up with 2002’s Voyage to India. With more than six million albums sold, she was nominated last year for her 12th Grammy for her duet with Stevie Wonder on the title track to his latest, A Time to Love. An Ambassador for UNICEF, she is also a tireless champion of social and humanitarian causes.
