Since emerging from the suburbs of Vacaville, California, in the early ’90s, Papa Roach has assumed top dog status in the echelons of—well, call it what you will; nu-metal, alternative metal, hard rock, or postgrunge. Whatever it is, the group’s heavy and aggressive sound has charged up the charts, with albums like the 2000 Dreamworks debut Infest and 2004’s Getting Away with Murder (which spawned the monster hit “Scars”) going platinum.
