Event Description
Matt Mays made a splash with the self-titled debut record from his band El Torpedo. The first single from the album, “Cocaine Cowgirl,” was the #3 most played Canadian song on Rock Radio in 2005 and was also top 10 on the BDS overall Rock year-end chart. The video was in heavy rotation on MuchMusic. The second single, “On the Hood”, charted in the top 20 on Rock Radio. The video was added to both MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic. The video for the band’s third single, “Time of Your Life ('til You're Dead),” was added to MuchMusic, MuchLOUD and PunchMuch. All this, plus four years of touring endlessly, opening for acts such as Blue Rodeo, Sam Roberts and, most recently, the Black Crows, as well as headlining their own sold-out shows, helped the band take home four East Coat Music Awards.
Now, with the release of his debut solo effort, When the Angels Make Contact, Matt is embarking on a solo tour. Showcasing his storytelling ability and roots-rock influences, the new record makes clear Matt’s towering talent, which shines through even when not backed by the musical dynamo that is El Torpedo.
