Shillelagh
Label: ya right
Hailing from Victoria British Columbia, Shillelagh has been making energetic folk music together since the summer of 1995. Originally Shillelagh was conceived as a busking act specializing in Irish drinking and rebel songs when it's founding members were unemployed. The band expanded quickly as other friends saw the potential to escape the slavery of the griddle and spatula.
Shillelagh continues to explore new musical back alleys to sing songs about outlaws, work, superstitions, drinking, fighting and hot meals. The band recorded and released its second offering A Lesson Hard Learned in the summer of 2001. Following the release Shillelagh embarked on a cross Canada tour out to Halifax and back. Fans can look forward to Shillelagh continuing to champion folk-you-can-dance-to for awhile more yet.
