After bursting onto the jazz scene 15 years ago, talented Italian singer Franca Masu has gone on to an impressive international career. Often singing in the Catalan dialect of her Sardinian hometown, the passionate, crystalline-voiced Masu is a glorious improviser able to blend a flawless jazz sensibility with a range of Mediterranean musical traditions (although her latest CD, Hoy Como Ayer, celebrates classic Argentinean tango).
