As a plein air painter I find great inspiration in what I see and feel in nature. My studio is the great outdoors where I can experience first hand the mood and atmosphere of a scene -- its light, temperature, humidity and winds, personality, and sounds. I work from real subjects and I paint in all sorts of weather. I don’t try to capture nature – it is too subtle and elusive -- but rather convey a feeling and a sense of what I see. For me plein air painting is a revelation, showing people a way of seeing the world. It’s a process of representing three dimensions in two, and the passage of time in a single moment.
