on the ‘hat is a relatively new ensemble of musical friends (Marnie Setka-Mooney, soprano; Diane Berry, flute; Kathryn Le Gros piano) that have performed together for a number of gigs in the last few years. The name of the group recognizes that the Malahat is a connector for the members; Marnie lives in Lake Cowichan, Kathryn in the Westshore and Diane in the Mount Douglas area. Some of their earliest performances were concerts of contemporary classical music, particularly that of Leila Lustig, and Diane Berry. Recently, they have performed live-streamed events celebrating Advent and Lent as well as a jazz focused event through the Highlands Coffee House Music series. While all three are classical musicians, their love of the music of a variety of genres has meant they each have played with other ensembles specializing in jazz, folk, and even oldies rock. They now bring that eclectic mix together in their programs.
