Penelope Scott-McCaig
Penelope Scott-McCaig currently lives and works in Victoria, British Columbia. The west-coast environment of her long time home of Vancouver Island has developed within her a strong connection to the natural world. Her work is inspired by the quiet and random beauty that is found in nature. Her paintings are studies of time, memory and emotion. Penelope looks to her local surroundings and personal experiences as sources for her artistic subjects and she is especially drawn to the botanical world- and more recently the lines of the earth and sky.
Penelope works primarily in acrylic on canvas, wood panel, and vellum. The combination of drawing, mark-making, applying and removing of paint reflects her equal concern for both process and subject matter.
Penelope earned a BFA in Visual Arts with distinction, from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. Her work can be found in numerous private collections across Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Caribbean.
