Formed in 1981 by Maurice Backun and based in Vancouver British Columbia, the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble boasts some of the Lower Mainland's finest wind band musicians. The group consists of professional musicians, dedicated music educators as well as outstanding amateur players. From its inception, the group has worked with a variety of composers, conductors and soloists, performing new and unusual works as well as standard wind ensemble repertoire.
This is PSWE's 26th season of superlative music making, and it follows a wonderful season highlighted by the guest appearance of famed trumpeter Jens Lindemann, as well as their ambitious program of July 2005 where they were guest artists at the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) in Singapore.
PSWE is returning to WASBE in San Jose in July, 2015, following another successful annual concert series at Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam.
