About

Earth Light

circa 1970 - circa 1975
Earth Light Club Band was formed in 1970 by Bill Irvine, guitar and Ron Pugh, bass & keys, backup vocals, featuring Roy King, lead vocals with Larry Ford on drums. (later, Earth Light had other drummers)
The band played Victoria gigs 'till 1975 and the last two NYE gigs were at the CPO's Mess in Esquimalt. Currently recording (2014) at RHP Studio, Victoria, BC.
.Cal Shepard, manager at Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Association on Wharf St, gave Earth Light their first gig in Victoria. Cal liked the band so much he hired EL for four nights a week: Wednesday thru Saturday night in the Totem Lounge. In 1970 the Totem Lounge was second only to The Forge in nighttime-entertainment popularity.
