Barry Guy and Maya Homburger Duo

Tkts. available at the McPherson Box Office and its outlets (250-386-6121 or online at www.rmts.bc.ca)

Not many musicians work at the intersection of classical baroque and modern jazz, but that’s probably because you have to be fantastically talented to pull it off. Switzerland’s Maya Homburger is a baroque violinist who has put in stints with the English Baroque Soloists and Trevor’s Pinnock’s The English Concert, amongst others. Her musical collaborator, British double bass master Barry Guy, is a virtuosic improviser and a gifted composer (it’s no coincidence he founded the London Jazz Composers Orchestra). Since the ‘70s he has toggled between being principal bassist for prestigious baroque ensembles and pursuing a parallel career as a key figure in the European improvised music scene. This promises to be a marvellous and unique concert!
