Yvette has played on many stages for intimate crowds to festival crowds of 10,000 people. On stage, she is a storyteller, a seductress, a siren with a big lush voice, and a guitar style that's accomplished, ranging from intricate finger picking to ripping rhythms. Her songs are diverse and emotionally evocative, dealing with social and political commentary, sexuality, introspection, and, of course, love.
This is a time of metamorphosis for Yvette, a transitional period of gladly walking away from a laborious, tainted record contract with Atlantic Records 143, to working full time with drug addicted and sexually exploited youth, and then returning to the stage with a whole new perspective and a burning desire. It has been a full circle back to herself, her roots as a solo singer songwriter. Yvette plans to remain independent from a grassroots core. She has recently built a recording studio that has given her a freedom she has always dreamed of. She is now in the process of writing, recording, and producing her first solo album since she was signed. Yvette has also scored film soundtracks and composed theatrical pieces.
The most recent gigs under her belt were sharing the stage with k.d. lang, Toshi Reagon, Melissa Ferrick, Ember Swift, Doria Roberts, Alix Olson, Pamela Means, The Dolly Ranchers, Edie Carey, Carole Pope, and Fruit from Australia. She has thrived on the connections made with these inspiring artists, and is at home again giving her music to the women's community and the folk circuit where it rightfully belongs.
Yvette has had a socially conscious career playing for fundraisers such as The Aid's Walk, women's shelters, breast cancer, rape relief and more. She continually offers her music for causes that are important to her. She has been outspoken for queer, women's and animal rights and lives by example.
