Wide Awake is quickly emerging as one of independent music’s most promising bands. Hailing from Edmonton, Canada and formed in 2007 this group just finished recording their debut album at Sound Extractor studio with highly touted producers Ross Damude (Wide Mouth Mason), and Stew Kirkwood.
With influences ranging from The Beatles and The Who to Pearl Jam and Collective Soul, this band brings a unique straight ahead rock sound to the table. A sampling of Sam Roberts, Oasis, and the Goo Goo Dolls can be heard from time to time in their melodic undertones; however this group is truly forming a sound of their own.
The group released their debut album May 31st with a sold out show at the Taphouse and were greeted with a great response. Their first single "Hey Yeah" was released in July and was soon getting airplay at radio stations across the country including medium and heavy rotation. Their new single "Yesterday" has just been released and is being very well received, also getting airplay at several stations across the country.
The band is currently confirming dates for a cross-country tour this summer. Playing festivals and showcases, Wide Awake looks forward to sharing their passion for performing with their fans.
