After a decade playing as a sideman with many of Victoria’s top musicians, Barrie Sorensen makes his debut at Hermann’s as a leader of his own group. Barrie will be presenting an evening of modern, original tunes, encompassing a wide variety of grooves, including funk, jazz-rock, swing, and Latin. Described as having an illustrious melodic sense and coupled with an intricate knowledge of jazz harmony, his original music is sure to be both accessible and pleasing to the discerning ear.

Barrie will be joined by a stellar group of players, with whom he regularly performs, including Attila Fias on piano and keyboards, Steve Grebanier on electric guitar, Ross MacDonald on electric bass, and Hans VerHoeven on drums.

Originally from Prince Edward Island, Barrie has made Victoria home for the past twelve years. Throughout his career, he has played with many internationally acclaimed artists and in an incredibly diverse range of musical genres. Known for intense and energetic performances, this promises to be an engaging evening of entertainment for everyone!
