Victoria Ska & Reggae Fest XX (2019) Official Recap
This year (2019) Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival celebrated two decades of bringing the best riddims and grooves to our ever-growing Massive. With a lineup jam-packed with international artists and some of the finest locally-grown bands the Canadian west coast has to offer, we celebrated this milestone in serious style. Not just limited to the genres that make our namesake, this years lineup featured soul, funk, hip-hop, drum n' bass and so much more. One of our biggest audiences to date was electrified by headlining performances from reggae royalty Ky-Mani Marley, legendary deejay Sister Nancy, skapunk legends Less Than Jake, UK dancehall icon Macka B & Roots Ragga Band, DC soulful ska-masters the Pietasters, Victoria's own Leg-Up Program and the Victoria debut of Portland's The Bandulus. Other highlights included appearances from legendary reggae vocalist/bassist Leroy 'Heptone Sibbles', the return of hometown heroes One Drop, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Vancouver powerhouse Salsahall Collective, Chicago's LowDown Brass Band and a special DJ set from Barry Ashworth of infamous UK outfit Dub Pistols. We hope this beautiful recap video will help you remember some of your favourite moments or, if you missed this incredible party, get you motivated to get out here to Vancouver Island and enjoy the beginning of the journey through the next two decades with us!
A huge thank you to our friends at Studio 549 in Victoria for putting together this beautiful recap video for our 20th Anniversary.
