The Waybacks is a Victoria band which began in the mid-90’s. With two former members of the Doo-Wops, the Waybacks formed a showband whose hallmark was quick costume changes and music genre tributes. Over time the show featured a 50’s set, beach party music, the hippy era, British invasion, a country set, disco, the “Blues Sisters”, an ABBA tribute, an 80’s set and a wind-up rock classics finale.
The band played mainly one-night corporate conventions from Victoria’s Conference Centre to Ottawa’s Westin Hotel and longer stints at fairs across BC and the prairies. Highlights include the Scott Tournament of Hearts in Regina, several gigs in Whistler and a trip to Skidegate in the Queen Charlottes. They have also played Klondike Days in Edmonton, Heritage Days in Regina and fairs in Saskatoon, Prince George and the interior of BC warming up for such acts as Wide Mouth Mason, Doug & the Slugs, the Good Brothers, Holly Woods and Toronto, Chilliwack and Prism.
