The Capitals are bursting out of the Vancouver suburbs with their energized brand of pop rock music. Pulling from a wide range of influences, guitarists Patrick Jacobson and Robert Watt, bassist Andrew Fuller and drummer Jonathan Bonikowsky, strive to recreate the true spirit of rock & roll. With their hook filled melodies and sing along choruses, The Capitals are a sure-fire crowd pleaser.
The Capitals formed in November 2001 in North Delta as Casey & Finnegan. They played their first show at Vancouver's Railway Club on December 12th, 2001. As a result of their knack for melodic songwriting, their catchy choruses, and their high-energy live performances, they quickly earned a loyal following in Vancouver. In 2004, the band hired Canadian music legends Kevin Kane (The Grapes of Wrath) and Steven Drake (Odds) to produce and mix their first CD. As The Capitals prepare to release their debut album, you can expect to hear a lot from this up and coming band.
Passionate live shows, catchy melodies and walls of guitar all add up to make The Capitals one of the most exciting new rock and roll bands to emerge from the post-garage rock aftermath. They have already received words of praise by the media and have quickly earned the attention of many key players in the Vancouver music industry.
“If (their) live show is half as tight as this debut, expect to see more of it. Songwriter Patrick Jacobson shows real promise.” – Stuart Derdeyn, The Province
“With its catchy hooks and sunny background vocals, the band shows that it has a solid foundation in the lighter side of rock.” – Gregory Adams, The Georgia Straight
“I think it is f**king great...” – Jonathan Simkin, 604 Records
