Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers The Ranters at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
The Ranters are Rockland Moran and Gillian Wale, an Americana/Roots duo from Shawnigan Lake. They have travelled the Pacific West Coast doing gigs along the way, enjoying the social intimacy of private house concerts as well as the chance to mingle, sing, perform, and share the company of fellow musicians at various festivals, including autoharp legend Bryan Bowers at Seattle Autoharp Gatherings. The Ranters have recorded two CDs: their first, "Rant On, Children”, featuring nine originals and one traditional song and their recently released second CD, "RANTERS 2”, featuring 8 original and 2 traditional songs. The CD's focus on their vocal harmonies as well as their instruments — guitars, mandola, mandolin, autoharps, and harmonica. Check out both albums on Bandcamp!
